This mod was featured on the BethBlog recently, and rightfully so. And The Realms Of Daedra, which adds a full quest based extensively on the back lore of The Elder Scrolls, is a thing of beauty. The modder’s recreation of Oblivion is impressive, and the research behind the story itself equally so. My only complaint was that it was too short. Description:
In the early days of the First Era the Chimer warlord Ornarol made a pact with the Daedra before betraying them to his own ends. When his deceit was discovered the three Daedric Princes tore his soul asunder, each taking part of his soul as a trophy, leaving bridges between his remains and their realms of oblivion. Embark on a dangerous quest to steal back Ornarol’s Soul and close these gateways to oblivion once and for all.
Upon completion of this mod you receive two Active Effects: Ornarol’s Guile, which improves Speechcraft and Bartering, and Ornarol’s Strength, which gives you a higher carrying capacity.
Skyrim Mod: Uncle Sheogorath’s Really Helpful Hints And Tips
If you desire a dash of the delusional for your Skyrim file, then Uncle Sheogorath’s Really Helpful Hints And Tips is the mod for you. The hints and tips, replacing the traditional load screens, are far from helpful, but they are hilarious:
“You fight poorly when you’re exhausted. Didn’t you notice? SLEEP MORE. You’re looking awfully pale. It’s not Ataxia. OR LUPUS.”
“Shooting things from a distance is fun- and convenient if you want to toast your kill over an open fire afterwards. Bread is good. Not much sport, though.”
“Jail is BOOORRRING. So always shoot to kill!”
There seems to be a Sheogorath version of every screen, so the mod should amuse you for awhile at least. Download it through the Steam Workshop or the Nexus Forum.
I’m fairly certain this amuses me and only me, but nonetheless. With this mod, the Dovahkiin equips the Sanguine Trolls, a staff that summons a horde of up to 30 tiny angry trolls to do your bidding (see it in action here).
While I’m disappointed at the Staff’s identical appearance to the Sanguine Rose, this mod works pretty much as it should. Some of the trolls scatter from the battle site, or wander into a corner to beat the ground and yell at themselves, but all in all I got the desired lols. To download this one for yourself, head over to the Nexus Forums or the Steam Workshop.
I love the idea of Mike’s Mystical Mounts. Running around Skyrim on the back of an unnatural beast appeals to me on so many levels. Unfortunately, this is one mod I can’t recommend. I was initially amused by the Dragon mounts, but they can’t fly, so there’s that. I purchased a Mammoth, but it never showed up. Oh, and the mod crashed my game. Apparently the issues have been affected other players too, so you’ll probably want to take a pass.
This simple tweak is best applied at the beginning of the game to be of any use, but all the same, it’s a Talos-send. The Legible Road Signs Hi Res mod makes the many sign posts along Skyrim’s roads clear and easier to read. No more squinting!
Some screen shots for Beautiful Whiterun, the mod that adds more plants and wildlife to the gorgeous Skyrim city. Download it at the Steam Workshop or Nexus Forums.
You bibliophiles will love this as much as I do. The vast literary world of Skyrim is now a tad easier to enjoy. The Unread Books Glow mod adds a bright blue glow (of varying shades for different books) to any tome that you’ve not yet read. It also applies the enhanced hues to notes and letters, with a “Read” or “Unread” indicator popping up when you hover over the item.
Unfortunately, it does not seem to apply to books that you haven’t read but have been in your inventory and are then put on a shelf. I will have to double check this, though, ‘cause I’m hard pressed to find a book in my inventory that I haven’t read yet.
“Do you get to the Cheese District very often? What am I saying, of course you don’t.”
I was going to save this for later, but what can I say. Cheese seems like such a midday weekend affair. This Cheesify Shout mod allows you to shout people into wheels of cheese. In this video, I did exactly what any self respecting Skyrim player would do, and turned it on one very deserving target.
My only regret is that I didn’t keep on going right over the Shrine of Talos.
Those hot springs south of Windhelm look mighty tempting, don’t they? With this mod, relax hot-poolside and enjoy a murky green soak before the dragon of Bonestrewn Crest comes a’callin’.
